Am Dienstagabend versammeln sich sich einige 1000 vor dem Kanzleramt, um zu demonstrieren. Zu ‘Open the borders! Safe lives! Fight Fascism!’ haben: ‘Seebrücke Berlin’, ‘Wir packen’s an’, ‘reAKT’, ‘no Nation Truck’ und die ‘Interventionistische Linke Berlin’ aufgerufen. ‘Seebrücke’ setzt sich für Seenotrettung im Mittelmeer und sichere Fluchtwege ein und organisiert außerdem über beteiligte Kommunen die konkrete Aufnahme von Geflüchteten über das von der EU verhandelte nationale Kontingent hinaus. ‘Wir packen’s an’ leistet konkrete Hilfe, insbesondere in den Lagern in Griechenland, ‘reAkt’ organisierte sich gegen unmenschliches Polizei- und Grenzschutzverhalten in Griechenland und anderswo und wendet sich gegen rechtspopulistische und faschistische Strömungen in Gesellschaft und Politik, ‘noNationsTruck’ sammelt für ein mobilen Versorgungstruck für die Fluchtrouten im Balkan, die ‘interventionistische Linke’ ist (laut Wikipedia) eine ‘multizentrische postautonome Organisation’ und setzt sich zuletzt u.A. gegen rechte Pateien und Rassismus ein.
On Tuesday evening some 1000 people gather in front of the Chancellery to demonstrate. To ‘Open the borders! Safe lives! Fight Fascism!’ were called for by ‘Seebrücke Berlin’, ‘Wir packen’s anpacken’, ‘reAKT’, ‘no Nation Truck’ and the ‘Interventionistische Linke Berlin’. Seebrücke’ is committed to sea rescue in the Mediterranean and safe escape routes and also organises, via participating municipalities, the concrete reception of refugees beyond the national contingent negotiated by the EU. ‘Wir packen’s an’ provides concrete help, especially in the camps in Greece, ‘reAkt’ organises against inhumane police and border control behaviour in Greece and elsewhere and opposes right-wing populist and fascist currents in society and politics, ‘noNationTruck’ collects donations for a mobile support truck along the balcan escape routes, the ‘Interventionistische Linke’ is (according to Wikipedia) a ‘multi-centre post-autonomous organisation’ and most recently campaigns against right-wing parties and racism, among other things.
Auf dem Willy-Brandt-Platz vor dem Kanzleramt sehe ich viele handliche Schilder von ‘Aufstehen-gegen-rechts’ und diverses selbstgemaltes, z.B. diverse Aufrufe, die ‘Festung Europa’ zu schleifen oder weniger konkrete humanistische Apelle. Ich habe nichts zum hochhalten dabei, will einfach mitgehen, wg. Humanismus. Ein Redner – vermute dem Inhalt nach von der ‘Interventionistischen Linken’ – will keine Nuancen gelten lassen, es gebe im Kampf gegen dieses ‘faschistische Europa’ nur ‘schwarz oder weiß’. Zum Glück gebrauchen die anderen Redner weniger Revolutionsspathos, berichten konkret von Situationen in den Flüchtlingslagern in Griechenland und von Polizei und Grenzschutzübergriffen, fordern Menschlichkeit, wo sie offensichtlich fehlt.
On Willy-Brandt-Platz in front of the Chancellery I see many handy signs of ‘Aufstehen-gegen-Rechts’ and various self-painted signs, e.g. various calls to grind ‘Fortress Europe’ or less concrete humanist appeals. I don’t have anything to hold up, I just want to go along, because of humanism. One speaker – presumably from the ‘Interventionistische Linke’, according to the content – does not want to accept any nuances, there is only ‘black or white’ in the fight against this ‘fascist Europe’. Fortunately, the other speakers use less revolutionary pathos, reporting specifically on situations in the refugee camps in Greece and on police and border patrol attacks, calling for humanity where it is obviously lacking.
Der Zug geht an Reichstag und Abgeordnetenbüros vorbei, passiert unter den Linden die russische Botschaft und endet schließlich in der Friedrichstraße. Viel Polizei begleitet, soweit ich schauen kann ist alles friedlich. Kurz vor Neun endet die Schlußkundgebung mit Musik und die Demonstranten gehen langsam in alle mögliche Richtungen davon. Es ist kalt und naß. Auf der Facebookseite der Veranstaltung steht, dass trotzdem 8000 gekommen seien. Die Polizei schätzt (laut rbb) 3500 Teilnehmer.
The march passes the Reichstag and the offices of members of parliament, then the Russian embassy on Unter den Linden and finally ends in Friedrichstraße. Accompanied by a lot of police, as far as I can see everything is peaceful. Shortly before nine the final rally ends with music and the demonstrators slowly walk away in all possible directions. It is cold and wet. On the facebook page of the event it says that 8000 people came anyway. The police estimates (according to rbb) 3500 participants.
